We encourage gifted people to use their gifts according to their calling for the edification of the church. As the Bible says, our gifts are to be used for others to build them up (Eph 4:12,13).
David served his own generation and what happened after his death? He could not and did not serve the next generation. We reckon our time on this earth is for a limited time. We believe in preparing the next generation to serve God till rapture.
